Who We Are

Essential Fine Wines was established because we wanted to drink good wines at good prices. Our long term goal was to take those wines and share them with as many people as possible and make buying wine an easy and enjoyable process. We are a focused team that eats sleeps and breathes (oh and drinks) wine. We have worked in the wine industry for many years and our collective drive to select our own portfolio lead to the launch of Essential Fine Wines. Every single wine is hand selected and each year we visit our wineries and taste wines in the vineyards with our winemakers. We want to make sure we bring you the very best from around the world – with one common factor – quality.

Along with the WSET Diploma she completed in 2002, Nik's experience comes from twelve years in the wine industry and extensive travel through the world's major wine regions. Heidi Welsh spent eight years in Hong Kong's financial industry - after which time she needed a drink! She has spent the last seven years immersed in the wine industry, and has developed a keen understanding of the business, as well as an unfaltering taste for Shiraz. Highly organised and with a keen eye for quality, Heidi brings a strong skill set to Essential Fine Wines - guaranteeing excellence in service.

May Sun is the energy behind Essential Fine Wine's sales team. For over twelve years, May has worked with Hong Kong's leading hotels, bars and restaurants, representing many leading brands from all over the world. She has visited vineyards in France and Australia, and has honed her wine-tasting ability to a fine art.

Colin Sim is the newest member of our team. With over 15 years of sales experience in the UK, he has returned to Hong Kong and now enjoys managing sales to our private customers, as well as the running of our website. A real people person, he likes nothing more than getting to know new people and having a great time, over a glass of wine of course!
